Review after trail marathon February 4, 2016 Reviewer: Paul Carruthers from Horsham, West Sussex United Kingdom   In my view these shoes are great for easy terrain, but on uneven ground they have caused me a lot of problems. Maybe I have weak ankles, but in these shoes I seem to turn my ankle a lot. This culminated in huge problems during the Dark Star Marathon last weekend where the shoes/I struggled with the terrain and mud to such an extent that I am now sat here with a badly sprained ankle, something that has never happened to me in 40 years of running. Not recommended for muddy or uneven trail conditions.   On better trails ( e.g. surfaced bridleways ) they are great, very comfortable fit and a lot of cushioning. Was this review helpful to you?

Hokas make you fly January 30, 2014 Reviewer: Nick Wishart from Northwich, Cheshire United Kingdom   This is my first pair of Mafate, having had 2 pairs of Stinson Evo. Initial thoughts after two outings; 19 mile training run followed by 34 mile coastal race; good grip, lugs a bit more aggressive than Stinson. A slightly heavier feel with a more rounded front. Upper material also more heavy duty, making the fit a bit more snug than the lighter weight Stinson. They coped well with very wet and boggy ground for 6 hours with no blisters. I still think I would opt for the lighter shoe given the choice but I don't see the gap in price between them is justified. As usual, excellent service from the ultra marathon store with rapid delivery. Can't fault it! Was this review helpful to you?

Excellent after care January 21, 2014 Reviewer: Simon Gould from WHITLEY BAY, TYNE AND WEAR United Kingdom   These shoes are the 5th or 6th product I have purchased from The Utramarathon Running Store.  All items have been delivered within 2 days of ordering. I did have an issue with the bladder of a running pack I ordered.  After contacting the store about the issue they had a replacement bladder sent out the same day, no questions asked! Not 100% December 20, 2013 Reviewer: Teresa Griffith from Charlton, London United Kingdom   The only thing I don't like about these is the long tongue.  It comes right up to my shin.  I've only worn them for about 33 miles though so maybe it will soften up.  I like the speed lacing system but I think I had it too tight first time out. I'd done about 10 miles and just had less than a mile to go when the tendons on my right foot started twanging.  No amount of loosening, tightening, adjusting seemed to help.
